After

Every photo holds a coloring page inside it. Colora finds the contours that matter — the curve of a jaw, the arch of a roofline, the soft edge of a sleeping cat — and translates them into clean black-and-white outlines that print sharp on plain paper.

There are no prompts to engineer and no settings to wrestle. Drop a photo, pick a line style and a paper size, and a print-ready PNG drops out the other side. It's the calmest way to make something personal to color in.

Use it on phone snapshots, family portraits, travel photos or your kids' favourite stuffed animal. As long as the subject is recognisable in the photo, it will be recognisable on the page.

Tips for the best results

Small choices in your source photo make a big difference in the final coloring page.

  1. 01

    Fill the frame

Crop close so your subject takes up most of the photo. Tiny faces in the corner translate into tiny details on the page.

  2. 02

Soft, even light beats harsh sun

Diffused daylight gives clean contours. Hard midday shadows can turn into noisy blobs in the outline.

  3. 03

    Pick a calm background

A busy background competes with your subject. A wall, a sky or a plain rug helps the outline focus where it matters.

  4. 04

    Sharp beats arty

Skip heavy filters, motion blur and Bokeh-heavy portraits. The clearer the edges, the cleaner the line art.

  5. 05

Match the style to the colorist

Kids for crayon-friendly thick lines, Clean for most people, Detailed for adult coloring books and gel pens.

  6. 06

    Re-run is free

If the first result isn't quite right, try a different style or a tighter crop — every run is fast and free.

Materials & printing

Everything plays nicely with what you already have at home.

Paper

Plain 80–120 gsm copy paper works perfectly. For markers, step up to 160 gsm or light cardstock to prevent bleed-through.

Pencils

Coloured pencils are forgiving and great for blending. Watercolour pencils give a soft painted look once you add water.

Markers & felt-tips

Bright and bold. Use alcohol-based markers on cardstock; water-based felt-tips on regular paper.

Crayons & wax pastels

The kid-friendly classic. Pair with the Kids line style so little hands have room to work.

Fineliners

Add ink details after coloring for a graphic-novel feel. Pairs especially well with the Detailed style.

Printer setup

Print at 100% scale, Black & White, High quality. A4 or US Letter both work — Colora exports for both.

It's the only AI tool I've used where I don't have to think. I drop a photo of my daughter, hand her the page, and she's coloring before I've put the phone down.

FAQ

How do I turn a photo into a coloring page?
Drop your photo into the Colora studio, pick a line style (clean, detailed or kid-friendly) and a paper size, then press Transform. You get a print-ready PNG in seconds.
What kind of photos work best?
Clear, well-lit photos with a recognizable subject — pets, faces, landscapes, vehicles or favorite toys. JPG, PNG, WebP and GIF up to 8 MB.
Is it free?
Yes. You can convert photos to coloring pages without an account. Sign in if you want your gallery saved across devices.
What size is the printable file?
High-resolution PNG sized for A4 (2480 × 3508 px) or US Letter (2550 × 3300 px) — prints crisp on any home printer.
Can I use the result however I want?
Yes — coloring pages made from your own photos are yours to print, color and share with friends and family.
Does it work with selfies and group photos?
Yes. Selfies translate beautifully — pick the Clean style for portraits and Detailed if you want hair and clothing texture. For group photos, make sure faces aren't too small in the frame.
Will it preserve the likeness of people and pets?
Colora follows the shapes and proportions of your photo, so faces, expressions and silhouettes stay recognisable. Heavy filters or extreme angles in the source photo can soften the resemblance.
Can I use the pages in a classroom or workshop?
Yes. Teachers, therapists and workshop hosts use Colora to make custom worksheets from photos the group already loves. There's no per-page limit.
Are my photos stored anywhere?
Your uploads are processed to generate the coloring page and aren't shared with anyone. If you sign in, your generated pages are saved to your personal gallery; otherwise nothing is kept after you close the tab.
What if I don't love the first result?
Try a different line style, crop tighter on the subject, or upload a brighter version of the photo. Most fixes are a 10-second re-run away.
