After

There's something about a pet on paper. The cocked head, the lazy stretch, the look they give you when they think dinner is late — Colora translates those exact moments into clean outlines you can print and color in.

Any pet works. Dogs and cats are the most common, but Colora draws horses, rabbits, birds, lizards and the occasional alpaca just as cleanly. As long as your pet is recognisable in the photo, they'll be recognisable on the page.

The result is a personal, hand-coloured keepsake — a birthday card, a fridge piece, a gift for the grandparents, or a quiet memorial when a pet has passed.

Any animal

From terriers to tortoises — if it has a silhouette, Colora can draw it.

Tips for the best results

Small choices in your source photo make a big difference in the final coloring page.

  1. 01

    Get down to their level

Take the photo at your pet's eye-line, not from above. The page feels more like a portrait and less like a top-down snapshot.

  2. 02

    Wait for a still moment

A blurry pet becomes a blurry outline. Catch them napping, sitting or staring at a treat for the cleanest result.

  3. 03

    Light from the front

Window light hitting the face beats backlight every time. Backlit silhouettes lose facial features in the outline.

  4. 04

    Mind the background

A plain floor, a tidy sofa or the garden lawn keeps the focus on your pet. Cluttered backgrounds turn into noisy line art.

  5. 05

    Try Detailed for textured coats

Long fur, manes and feathers shine in the Detailed style — Clean is better for short-haired pets.

Materials & printing

Everything plays nicely with what you already have at home.

Paper

Plain 80–120 gsm copy paper for pencils; 160 gsm cardstock if you're using markers or planning to frame it.

Coloured pencils

The forgiving choice for fur and gradients. Layer light over dark for depth.

Watercolour pencils

Color in dry, then brush over with a wet brush — fur turns soft and painterly.

Markers

Bold and saturated for bright pets, parrots and reptiles. Use alcohol markers on cardstock for the cleanest result.

Frame & gift

A finished pet page fits a standard A4 or 8.5×11 frame. A simple white mat and the page is instantly giftable.

I made one of our old Labrador the night after we lost him. The whole family sat down and coloured it together. It's the most useful thing AI has ever done for us.

FAQ

Can I make a coloring page from a photo of my pet?
Yes — upload any clear photo of your dog, cat, horse or other pet and Colora turns it into a printable coloring page in seconds.
What's the best kind of pet photo to upload?
Well-lit photos where your pet fills most of the frame work best. Faces, full-body shots and action poses all translate beautifully.
Which style should I pick for pets?
Clean works well for almost any pet. Pick Kids for thicker outlines that little hands can color easily, or Detailed for adult coloring books.
Is it really free?
Yes — no account required. Sign in only if you want your past pet pages saved to a personal gallery.
Can I print and share the coloring pages?
Yes — pages you create from your own pet photos are yours to print, color, give away and share.
Does it work with fluffy or long-haired pets?
Yes — Colora reads the outer silhouette and key contours, so long fur turns into soft flowing outlines instead of a thousand tiny strokes. The Detailed style adds a bit more fur texture if you want it.
What about black cats or very dark pets?
Dark coats are tricky for any photo tool. Take the photo in soft daylight against a contrasting background — a bright wall, a light blanket, the garden — and you'll get a clean outline.
Will it work for horses, rabbits, birds and reptiles?
Yes. Anything with a clear silhouette translates into a great coloring page — Colora has happy users coloring everything from bearded dragons to ponies.
Can I use the page for a memorial or tribute?
Yes. Many people use Colora to make a quiet, hand-coloured tribute to a pet they've lost. The page is yours to keep, color and frame however feels right.
